Tenda Bar (1956) Aldo Bernardis e Paolo Pascolo (modificato)

Lignano Pineta - piazza Marcello D'Olivo, 7

Lignano Pineta, Görlich editore, Milano 1960

The architectural design is of elegant simplicity: a single-story structure, intended for a bar and caretaker's accommodation, raised from the ground and accessible via two short, symmetrical ramps, is topped by a wide gabled roof that creates a light and pleasant portico.

The structure features slender double steel profiles that support the wooden beams of the variably-sectioned roof. The building has been partially modified to increase the capacity of the "tent," but its original configuration is still clearly recognizable.

Lignano Pineta: An Urban and Architectural Revolution (1947-1959)

After World War II, Italy's reconstruction accelerated tourist development, with a particular focus on housing needs. In Lignano, designers carried forward the results of the debate on housing, advancing an experimental architectural culture. The Lignano Pineta plan, drafted by Marcello D'Olivo, was a fundamental act of urban regeneration, marked by a new urbanistic and architectural mindset that redefined the relationships between man, nature, and architecture.
