The Eurotel in Lignano Riviera, designed by Domenico Bortolotti between 1968 and 1970, is a remarkable example of modernist architecture within the Italian tourism context. Located at Calle Mendelssohn 13, this hotel complex stands out for its harmonious integration of functionality and aesthetics, offering a spatial experience that emphasizes the relationship between architecture and its surrounding environment.

The structure consists of two main buildings arranged in an "L" shape, oriented to the south and west, allowing ample natural light to illuminate the common areas and guest rooms. At the center of the complex is an outdoor swimming pool, the focal point of the communal areas, surrounded by a pleasant space designed for relaxation and social interaction.

The entrance is strategically located at the intersection of the two blocks, close to the main road and external parking lots, making access convenient. The architectural volumes are carefully proportioned, with vertical panels at the ends of the blocks that create an interesting chiaroscuro effect through the play of natural light.

One of the most interesting aspects of Bortolotti's design is the articulation of the interior spaces, especially the atrium, which features slightly elevated levels, defined by curvilinear steps that create a flowing and harmonious rhythm throughout the building.

Lignano: Public Works and Tourist Development (1970-2000)

In the 1970s and 1980s, Lignano consolidated its position as a major tourist destination, completing significant public works such as the Pineta church, the Town Hall, and the Arena for concerts. Lignano Riviera enriched itself with prestigious architecture, following the best Italian design of the time, while striving to maintain a calm and quiet environment in contrast to the more chaotic tourist development.
